Many Memories:

Many Places

Como Park is one of my favorites. They have the Merry Go Round out there, the Carousel, and it has my favorite horse out there and I won't ride any other horse but that one.

Another place downtown in the World Trade Center, in the northeast corner ground floor, there is a sculpture down there you ought to see. It's the seven continents and it's carved out of like big iron people, men and women and their feet and hand are connected and it goes around a globe. I took someone from Illinois there one time.

Harriet Island has my name carved in the stone, my children bought that for me one year....

I lived up by the Cathedral and one time I had to go downtown and buy a part for my washing machine wringer. So I picked the wringer up from the basement, put it on the table and took it all apart on both ends, and I told my kids don't you dare touch these. So I go get the part for the wringer, and as I was coming home, I got to Seven Corners and I saw the Selby-Lake bus and I raced across the corner and jumped on the bus but it didn't go by my house. It sits up on Lake but goes up Marshall and it was just packed with people and we went by the cathedral and it was on the left side of me when it should have been on the right side of me and I said to somebody, 'how come the cathedral is on that side?' And they said, 'well this bus doesn't stop 'til it gets to Lexington.' And I said 'oh you've got to be kidding.' So I made my way to the front of the bus and I told the driver, 'tell me this bus doesn't stop 'til it gets to Lexington' and he said, 'that's right lady.' And I said, 'Well give me a transfer I gotta go back home.' And I am laughing like a fool. So I get off and I wait for Selby-Lake bus and go back towards the cathedral. And I was sitting up on the bench side by the driver, siting there laughing to myself and people were looking at me like I was nuts. But anyway I got home with the pipe for the wringer, got it all put together put it on the machine and finished my wash.
