Twin Cities Residents’
Favorite Places

Artist Stephen Farley, the 2002 McKnight National Fellow in Interdisciplinary Arts, invited all Twin Cities residents to contribute a story and visual artifact about their favorite place.Farley assembled a team of expert collaborators: intern Sally Schubert and six local teenagers (Riyak Ali, Maryan Ali, Marlon Betancurt, Michael Bogan, Lorenzo Lopez, and Juan Ortega Sanchez). This group created the online exhibit you are now viewing after transcribing and scanning all submissions, learning the software, conducting many more "person-on-the-street" interviews, and designing the web pages. Most photographs were submitted by the people who turned in the stories, but many more were photographed by Sally Schubert and other team members. Some historical photographs were lent through the courtesy of the Minnesota History Center.

If we are successful in raising funds, we plan to publish a book. Information about that book will be posted here when available.
