| Matt: You don't feel like you're in the city, but you're in the city. They have this massive old fountain, I don't know how to explain it but it's just really comforting and kind of vintage. It's fun.
Stephanie: We go at least once a week probably, we take the back roads home to go drive through it.
Matt: We probably eat lunch at it or dinner maybe once twice a month. Nothing ever goes through our mind, we just kinda drive there, it's like habit. It's like a really bad habit. It draws us right there. Because Grand heads to it, all the roads kind of start heading that way, and the truck just goes that way.
Stephanie: You don't even expect it when you're driving, because you drive towards the city and you see how busy it is and the minute you get in the center there, it's like everything else around you kind of disappears.
Matt: And the waterfall is peaceful and the trees are swaying.
Stephanie: The steps look down into it--they are all concrete steps. It's like a huge bowl that you go down into and the trees are just huge and when they are in bloom they are bright pink.
Matt: We really love St Paul's Victorian houses. The oldest Victorians are down there, so it's kinda nice. When we got our wedding pictures back from the photographer, we were thought they were so-so, but our friend sent us these pictures that she has taken with her old, old 35mm camera--you know all manual--and it was just a delight.
Stephanie: Black and white captures a lot more than color pictures.
Matt: It captures the moment. They were all black and white next to the fountain and on the park benches. It made it more timeless and actually brought us to the era of those houses. |
