Who I am…

Born: December 6, 1983
Birthplace: San Luis Obispo, Califormia
Came to the Twin Cities in 1984

“On Passover we always have a bunch of people at our house. My sister and I both invite friends who are not Jewish and my parents do the same so they can see what a service is like and be exposed to and different culture or religion. Usually my mom likes to be creative and artisty with it and she has everyone bring something to share. One year we all had to bring something that reminded us about spring.

“I just think that the government and other people shouldn’t be able to tell other women what they can and can’t do with their body. I also think that women should not use abortion as a form of birth control, at all. But I do think that it is important that we have the right to choose.

“I like my parents a lot and get along with them fairly well. More now then when I was younger. In middle school, we would fight a lot. We would drive to dance five times a week and whenever we would get in the car I would fight with my mom, no matter what. Car fights are the worst because you can’t go anywhere. you can’t get out of the car and I would not want to say anything. I was just stuck. It was the worst! The older I have gotten, the better it has gotten.”

My favorite place…

Favorite Place: Paths near Lake Harriet

“When contemplating my favorite place in Minneapolis I thought a lot about where I go, what I like to do, and why. The first place that popped into my head was Lake Harriet. I go there at least once a day when the weather is nice and the sun is out. I like to rollerblade there, read, talk with friends, walk with my mom, or just sit, relax, and be. No matter what time of day it is, the lake always looks beautiful. I love to be near the water. I am not sure why—I think the lake puts me at peace.”
