Who I am…

Born: March 18, 1984
Birthplace: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Came to the Twin Cities in 1984

“I have three brothers and four sister. I love it. The oldest is 19 and the youngest is five. It’s huge. It’s crazy.

“My parents don’t always get along and my siblings don’t always get along. But it’s getting easier as I grow older. I moved out of my parents’ house this fall for, like, six months and moved in with a family friend because it was closer to my school and it was so hard at home, there were so many kids. After that and during that, my parents realized how responsible I am and I realized how much I missed them and love them.

“I really admired my second grade teacher, Nancy Erickson. Because of that I always wanted to be a second grade teacher. You can learn something from anyone, no matter what age they are. Kids will sometimes wow you with their points of view, their questions, when they are younger.”

My favorite place…

Favorite Place: Boathouse at Lake Calhoun

“Lake Calhoun in the summer would become like my second home. I was employed there the last three summers along with many of my friends. Just last summer I was promoted to boat girl! That didn’t mean more money, just that I got to lounge around in my swimsuit all day long and get paid.

“I have so many different memories, from being thrown in the lake by other employees for practicing my cheers to getting kicked out of the lake for swimming off the dock. I learned what to do for fun on the cool summer evenings and found out who my good friends were.

“To me there is no better place to be on a sunny summer day then at Lake Calhoun.”
